Weight Percentage Loss Calculator

My body fat percentage suddenly moved from 25.2 percent to 26 percent with the omrom calculator, what to do?

I am still the same weight but it suddenly moved that much in 2 days, i am trying to keep lifting weights to prevent muscle loss in weightloss altogether but it hasn't been going well! i keep on not losing body fat percentage while i lift weights and eat protein while slowly lose weight! It keeps on staying the same mostly! i moved from 28 percent at 70 kilos and am now 66.6 and 26 percent, is that too little?

You ever heard of plateau-ing? It happens, just wait a couple weeks and your body mass will restart it's journey towards lean. Keep exercising.

Weight Volume Conversion
Help with conversion problem with density?

Substance has density 15.0g/cm^3 and weight 2.00 lbs. What is volume in gallons? (454g=1lb; 1.06qt=L)

---
Is this right so far?
V=Dm
V=15.0g/cm^3 X 908 g ( I CHANGED LBS TO GRAMS)
V=13620g/cm^3

454 gm = 1 lb
1.06 qt = 1 L
10^3 cm^3 = 1 L
1 gal = 4 qt

2.00 lb
= 2.00 * 454 gm

2.00 * 454 gm
occupies
2.00 * 454 / 15.0 cm^3

2.00 * 454 / 15.0 cm^3
= (2.00 * 454) / (15.0 * 10^3) L
= (2.00 * 454 * 1.06) / (15.0 * 10^3) qt
= (2.00 * 454 * 1.06) / (15.0 * 10^3 * 4) gal
= 1.60 * 10^(- 2) gal.

Weight Body Mass Calculator

Weight Body Mass Calculator

Body Mass Index (BMI) a good way for individuals to assess their overall body picture, as it provides a reasonably sound measure of a healthy weight range. Body Mass Index (BMI) is the ratio of body weight (in kilograms) to height (in meters) squared (i.e. BMI = wt [kg] ÷ ht [m)2.

Don’t worry about calculating your Body Mass Index (BMI) using the formula above, instead, go to http://www.alfitness.com.au where you will see a link to have it done automatically, with healthy weight ranges shown.

The current Body Mass Index standards that have been adopted worldwide include:

Underweight

Normal, health 18.5-24.9

Overweight 25.0-29.9

Obese >30.0 (with different classes above 30.0)

This Body Mass Index can give you a quick snapshot of your body’s condition. If you are carrying a lot of fat, your BMI will be in the overweight or obese range. Being in this range will increase the likelihood of becoming ill with things like heart disease or diabetes. Several studies have shown that people who live the longest have a BMI of 22.5 to 23.5, although obviously other factors such as smoking and other lifestyle factors affect this.

Some allowances to BMI might be made for age (higher values) in special cases, but the above values are suitable for the vast majority of adults. The difficulty with assessing BMI as an indicator of body fat is that heavily muscled people (such as body builders) might have an artificially high BMI. Nevertheless, it is worthwhile keeping your Body Mass Index in the healthy weight range.

Body composition can be best assessed by what you know about yourself- i.e. what you see in the mirror and then finding out your Body Mass Index. If you think you might be overweight, try the diets and fitness plans with Australian Lifestyle and Fitness (http://www.alfitness.com.au) to get back in shape and look your best.

Weight Maintenance Calorie Calculator

Weight Maintenance Calorie Calculator

Have you  wondered what a calorie is in context of health problems ? The definition of a calorie actually is "the amount of energy, or heat that it takes to raise the temperature of 1 gram of water to1 degree Celsius".

A calorie is basically a unit of energy that is associated with food and drink and so often is a measure of the energy, or heat, that food produces  all as your body uses it as fuel.

The first step in counting calories right  for your personal weight loss is better to calculate how many calories you burn in a day (your total daily energy expenditure), this is the overall number of calories that your body expends in 24 hours,  that including all activities.

This is known as your maintenance level and  so often will be the reference point (number of calories) from which part  to start your dieting.

The average calorie maintenance level associated  for women in the United States is that  approx 2000 per day and the average for men is approx 2500 per day. These are few basic averages and are usually much higher for athletes or active individual s.

A quick and  more easy method to find out how many calories you require per day for weight loss and also maintenance is to calculate a calorie value with a multiplier as set out below.

Fat loss = multiply your bodyweight in pounds with 12 calories (12 x lb).

Maintenance = multiply your bodyweight in pounds with 15 calories (15 x lb).

This is a very easy method to estimate your daily caloric requirements and but it has its drawbacks as it doesn't take into account your particular activity levels or body fat levels. Despite this it will give you a good estimated figure  and that you can work with.

The maintenance figure that you get is the  total amount of calories that you need to consume to stay at your current weight. To lose weight your calorie  that intake must be lower than the calories you burn.

In order to lose one pound of fat per week and  you must reduce your weekly calorie intake by 3,500 calories, which works out at five hundred calories  often per day. This all can be done by reducing your calories by 500 or combining a diet with physical activity.

The bottom line is to balance your caloric intake  and that with the amount of calories that you are burning, that's the secret to successful dieting and weight maintenance.

Becoming more conscious of counting calories in your everyday eating regime is imperative if you are trying to lose weight. Studies have shown that men and women "underestimate" their daily calorie consumption by 500 to almost 1000 calories.

Height Weight Percentile

Height Weight Percentile

The February 7, 2007 edition of the Wall Street Journal described a local hospital's efforts in regards to patient satisfaction. Briefly, the article stated that in 2004 the hospital had done a patient survey and had found that patients thought the staff offered poor service and that patients thought they were ill-informed about decisions and home care. The hospital's response to this survey created some very positive results. The hospital formed a family and patient advisory council. Based upon the advice of the council several important changes were made. Visiting hours were eliminated. Staff worked with patients and staff to decide who would make medical decisions. Waiting times were shortened. Staff called home after patient discharge to make sure that instructions were clear and being followed. These improvements along with others led from a patient ranking in the lower third nationally to the 64th percentile. More improvements are surely coming and along with those a higher ranking.

Why should a hospital be concerned with this type of information and patient satisfaction? One is that the healthcare market is becoming more competitive. Medicare will be posting results of mandatory patient surveys of hospitals on its website. There are three major hospitals in the metro area in which I live (Grand Rapids) and if media advertising campaigns are any indication, the competition is becoming very lively. Word of mouth is an important part of advertising. Hence, patient satisfaction is extremely important. Unfortunately, many hospitals have yet to realize the importance of patient satisfaction, in spite of the fact that it was one of the major recommendations in the National Institute of Health's report, Crossing the Quality Chasm.

Another return in paying attention to patient satisfaction is the improved health of the patient. By knowing who is empowered to make medical decisions, time is being saved in making important medical decisions. By following up on instructions at home, costly errors in terms of money and health are being prevented and patients are healing much faster, driving down the rate for readmissions due to complications after discharge.

Much of the drive to listen to patients is borrowed from a long tradition of the best manufacturers of everyday products and providers of service to customers. I ran across a remarkable example of this not long ago with Toyota Corporation, a company which sets world standards in customer satisfaction and improved sales. I test drove a Toyota Matrix and found the driver's seat to be the same height as my new Corolla. I was surprised. The salesman said that Toyota had surveyed its customers and found that the customers preferred driver's side seats to be a certain height. This accommodated older drivers, who are an important segment of Toyota's clients. Thus, Toyota standardized this height in all of its autos some time ago. It is one of the reasons its sales worldwide is increasing.

Competition is increasing not only in hospital settings but also in many other areas of healthcare. In a February 6, 2007 article in the Wall Street Journal competition in laser eye corrective surgery was discussed. Nationally, competition in this field is becoming intense and so it is in my local area. Prices for procedures are coming down due to this. The growing use of Health Savings Accounts (HSA's) has also led to increased comparison of quality and cost in this procedure. When I was discussing this article recently with the manager of such a facility he pointed out that it is still difficult to compare quality of service. He said word of mouth is very important. Hence, knowing what your patients think is very important. Surveys are an excellent way to find out.

Competition is also increasing in the primary care setting. It is increasingly important to find out what patients think. A January 1999 article in Family Practice Management pointed this out and gave excellent advice on how to do so. This article can be found on the American Academy of Family Physician's website. Two useful tips in the article are how to insure that you get a random sample for best survey results and what size of response is necessary to get good results. It also points out an access to a standardized survey for the primary care physician that they have developed. While such surveys are good, I think that a survey developed specifically for a particular healthcare setting will return more valuable results.

Surveys are very important in today's competitive healthcare climate. Simple surveys and standardized ones can provide much useful information, but I suggest that if you want the best information, that you get the help of someone who specializes in survey design, information collection and survey analysis. I am sure that if you take this step that you will find the investment well worth it.

Children Weight Calculator

Children Weight Calculator

Your body mass index (BMI) is a quick way to figure out if your weight is on track for your height.

Your BMI is very simple to calculate but should be used as a guideline for healthy weight only. Because muscle weighs more than fat, weight and your BMI are not the only determination of your level of health.

The BMI Formula

To calculate your BMI, simply complete the following steps. All you need is yourself, your accurate height, a scale and a calculator.

First, weigh yourself. If you normally weigh yourself once during the day at a specific time you are going to do things a little bit differently this time. You need to weigh yourself in the morning before you eat or drink (because food and liquids can affect your body weight.) Weigh yourself three times and then take an average of those weights to get an accurate figure.

Next, you need to convert your height into inches and then square that figure. For example, if you are 5'5" your height in inches would be 65 inches. Square that number (65X65) and then divide your weight in pounds by that figure. If you are 5 feet, 5 inches tall and weigh 165 pounds, your ending number would be .03905.

The next step is to take that number and multiply it by 703 (see why you need a calculator!) This step will convert the pounds and inches into the metric system. In our example, .03905 multiplied by 703 is 27.45. This figure is your BMI and it falls within one of four categories: underweight, normal range, overweight or obese. Underweight is 18.5 and below, 18.5 to 24.9 is normal, 25.0 and 29.9 is overweight and 30 and over is obese.

BMI for Children and Teens

All adults over 20 years of age can use the BMI ranges above. BMI for children and teens is calculated the same way that it is for adults, but the values are not classified the same way. Instead of charts with clearly defined values for overweight and underweight, children are compared with other children of the same age and sex.

If the BMI-for-age is less than the 5th percentile the child is underweight; If the BMI-for-age is between the 85th and 95th percentile, the child is at risk for becoming overweight; If the BMI-for-age is in the 95th percentile, the child is classified as overweight.

Here's a BMI calculator for children and teens that will determine both the BMI and the the child's BMI percentile: (http://pediatrics.about.com/cs/usefultools/l/bl_bmi_calc.htm).

Keep in mind that a BMI is only a screening tool that is used by doctors and healthcare professionals to categorize your weight. There may be other factors that contribute to your high or low number that have nothing to do with your weight, such as a long-term illness that produces an underweight BMI or lots of muscle mass that produces a high BMI.

Once you determine your BMI, you should check with your doctor if you are outside of the normal range. Your doctor can provide you with solutions to help you either gain or lose weight when needed. You should not undergo any weight loss or weight gain program without first consulting your doctor, who can offer additional testing and nutritional counseling to help you meet your goals.

Manhole covers are generally made of steel and are quite heavy. In fact each year many American Utility Workers are injured due to the heavy covers. Fingers are crushed, heads banged and backs sent out of alignment. Today some cities have gone to replacing the manhole covers with synthetic or composite covers which can take the same amount of weight without cracking, do not rust, weigh considerably less and are not stolen to turn in for scrap metal.

Some larger cities lose some 100-300 manhole covers per year from theft, many of these manhole covers turn up at metal recycling yards. Iron manhole covers often rust sending orange-ish mud and debris into underground utility holes and cause damage to components and contamination of ground water and urban run off storm drains with iron oxides.

There are a couple of innovative companies already making these manhole covers from composite materials and many cities are opting for the stronger, lighter and more durable materials. Here are a couple of websites to learn more. One thing which has not been discussed is that since composite it made in layers, sensors can be contained within these units or covers. Sensors to detect underground gases alerting crews of toxicity or bad air, which is another killer amongst ground utility workers, can be easily molded into the covers.

Sensors such as traffic counters with satellite relays can tell us of congestion, weight of vehicles and other important road maintenance upgrades needed. Sensors can also alert us of forced entry into our underground utility systems to protect against international Terrorism attacks. The new innovations in materials is well known in many industries such as aerospace, but we should also be looking at its uses underground because the sky is not the limit for these new composite polymer based materials. Think on this.
